Dear Atlas F1 Readers:

I apologize for the tardiness in recent issues of Atlas. Basically, it seems that we are running out of steam.

The main cause of delays can be attributed to lack of content. As we see in this issue, our review of the race is the only article available. Internally, content has been hard to come by as vacations are now taking place. But, furthermore, for Mitch, Rory, Max, Mike and myself, there may be a touch of tiredness.

We have been running for over three years now. And, although Atlas is a labor of love, it is getting more difficult to justify the expense of time and services involved. When you look around the Web, many sites have fared well with less visitors than Atlas F1 receives. Whether the content has to do with Astrology or Zoology, these sites are finding support from third parties in running ads or obtaining sponsorship.

Part of the problem may well be that we are now perceived as an establishment as we have been around for so long. People often see a professionally run site and think that the people who run it are well funded but this is not the case and with numerous "big money" sites around it is becoming harder for Atlas F1 to compete.

I must admit, we have been too picky in our obtaining proposals for help. Previously, I have refused offers and notions of putting, for instance, hand cream advertisements on our pages. However, looking back, this may have been a mistake since no race related companies have decided to invest in endeavors such as Atlas. You do see banners to other racing sites, but these have been only promotional (with the exception of F1PICTURENET whose help we deeply thank).

I know all of you have excellent suggestions on how to improve Atlas F1. News and articles should be posted quick. Grammar and spelling should be close to perfect. Other services such as an Infopedia (which is actually in the works) should exist. Atlas is a good starting point for an F1 enthusiasts and, if we were to improve upon the current model, somebody is bound to reward the hard work, right?

Well, at this point, I'm afraid it's a bit of a chicken and egg argument. We could improve Atlas, but I do not have the heart to bring people on with little or no reward. And, based on our history along with other F1 sites, the previous is a fair statement.

I actually thought Atlas F1 was on its last issue about a month ago, but we've managed to get by since then. However, I think the current arrangement of Atlas F1 is nearing its end. I can't say if this is the last issue. We do have plans for the British GP. However, I think it's time to warn you of the situation and open the doors for comments and situations to arise so that we, the editors, are not the only ones to decide if Atlas should discontinue.
