Arrows test driver Johnny Herbert hopes of landing an Indy 500 drive next year were boosted after an impressive test with Indy Racing League team Heritage Motorsports in Kentucky.
Herbert, who clocked a best lap of 214.7mph - good enough for pole position in this year's race - is looking for a drive in the Indianapolis 500 in 2002 and hopes the testing will take him a step closer to achieving his dream.
"My goal is to get as much experience with a team before going to the Indy 500," Herbert said. "I'm very happy with this test and it was a great package. Winning the Indy 500 is my last major challenge, and I'm doing all I can to get there.
"I'm trying to figure out all the possibilities and looking for a strong package. I want the best opportunity to win the Indianapolis 500."
Herbert will continue to test with Arrows for the remainder of the year.
