Franchitti Says No to F1 Switch

Thursday August 16th, 2001

Scot driver Dario Franchitti has ruled out a possible move to Formula One racing following the announcement that he would stay with his current ChampCar team for two more years.

"Basically what's happened is I have been enjoying myself over here, enjoying the racing, so I am still here," Franchitti said. "I am really happy with the team. I love working with Barry [Green] and so that's one of the reasons I am still here."

Franchitti, who tested for the Jaguar Racing team last season, had admitted he was interested in moving to Formula One and was linked with a switch to the sport in a near future.

However, his decision to stay with Team Kool Green until the end of the 2003 season means the Scot has turned his back to racing in Formula One.
