The Ferrari team plan to continue to dominate Formula One in 2002, and to do so the Italian outfit are thought to be set to introduce a new revolutionary transmission system.
According to a report published in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the Maranello-based team are currently working in the development of a new system in which torque-controlled clutches in the differential replace the conventional clutch used now.
In order to reduce the mechanical friction, the new transmission, thought to be quicker than the current one, is made out of a light alloy which also helps reducing the weight.
It is also believed that Ferrari will introduce components of the new transmission in the four remaining races this season, starting at this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, in order to test them before next season.
