Sato Enjoys First Taste of Interlagos

Thursday December 13th, 2001

Japan's Takuma Sato has got himself up to speed at the Brazilian Grand Prix venue ahead of his Formula One debut with Jordan next year.

All Formula One teams are banned from testing their cars until the New Year, but Sato completed 86 familiarisation laps at the Interlagos circuit outside Sao Paulo at the wheel of a Brazilian Formula Three car.

"It felt great to get back in a car and I have really benefited from driving round Interlagos," the team's website quoted him as saying after returning to Britain on Wednesday. Brazil is the third race on the 2002 calendar. The Championship starts in Australia on March 3.
