The Jordan Grand Prix team are expected to make several members redundant as they undergo a re-structuring period to cope with the increasing funding problems that face Formula One.
A source close to the team admitted that there will be just less than 10 redundancies from their 250-strong workforce, some at the end of December and more at the end of January.
The team did not use the name Benson and Hedges as their title sponsor for 2002, and although the tobacco company is expected to remain involved with the Silverstone-based outfit, it seems unlikely that it will be present in the team's name, meaning it will reduce its involvement.
The re-structuring is aimed at streamlining the team and increasing the staffing on the technical side, and the source warned: "Jordan is best at its leanest and meanest."
