Arrows Deny Payment Freeze

Thursday December 20th, 2001

The Arrows Grand Prix team have denied rumours that their staff have not been paid as the bite of Formula One budget reductions continued to stretch teams to their limits.

It was rumoured that nobody in the Leafield-based team had been paid for any work in November or December, but a team spokeswoman strongly denied any suggestions of a financial freeze. "That is rubbish," she said. "Everyone has been paid. There are no problems here, and I have no idea where those suggestions came from. Everything is fine."

Arrows recently secured Red Bull sponsorship for 2002, but their backing from communications company Orange is unlikely to continue past the coming season.
