No Crash Test Problems for BAR

Thursday February 22nd, 2001

British American Racing became the second team in two days to deny that they have failed the necessary safety tests needed to run in Formula One.

FIA President Max Mosley said on Tuesday that some teams have failed the crucial tests and reports in the British press suggested that BAR and Benetton were amongst them.

However, BAR have joined Benetton in denying that they were one of the teams to fail.

"We have successfully passed the last of the FIA's structural test regulations on the 20 February," the team revealed in an official statement.

Technical director Malcolm Oastler added: "This has been a significant challenge for the team which they have risen to admirably.

"We look forward to starting the season in Australia with cars which fully realise the FIA's outstanding safety objectives."

On Wednesday, Benetton denied reports that their car had failed the tests. However, no other teams have passed comment on the situation.
