Following the rumours about Arrow' refugee Pedro de la Rosa signing with the Prost Grand Prix team for the 2001 season, the French outfit has been quick to deny the speculation about having reached an agreement with the Spanish driver.
When asked if de la Rosa had been signed by Prost, a team spokeswoman said: "No, not at all. We’ve already announced our driver programme for 2001."
Mazzacane's father was also quoted as saying: "Gaston has a contract to drive for the whole year."
However, despite Prost's denial, de la Rosa is still seen as the favourite to land a test drive with the team and, according to speculation, eventually replacing Gaston Mazzacane after the fourth race of the season, the San Marino Grand Prix.
As revealed by the Atlas F1 News Service today, de la Rosa is looking for a test drive for 2001, and he also admitted not being interested in driving for Minardi, the only team still with free seats.
