Briton David Coulthard revealed at McLaren's launch in Valencia that he has postponed plans to marry American model girlfriend Heidi Wichlinski as he bids to win a maiden world championship.
Coulthard, 29, admitted that his quest to become a world champion was the reason behind his decision to put the marriage plans on hold. The couple had not yet chosen a date for the wedding, and will not now attempt to get married this year.
Team chief Ron Dennis revealed this when he said that Coulthard has "deferred" his plans during the same winter in which team-mate, double world champion Mika Hakkinen, became a father following the birth of his son Hugo.
Dennis said: "Both drivers will be clear headed and focused for the job, which is great news for the team."
Coulthard, when asked about his wedding postponement at the McLaren launch in Valencia, said: "In Grand Prix racing we all have a very busy schedule, and it is the same for both Heidi and I.
"I wanted to concentrate on doing the job properly and to be able to focus on it without having the distraction of other things like Wedding arrangements."
