Mika Hakkinen has yet to discover whether fatherhood will make him faster in Formula One but he says he feels stronger and less pressured.
The former world champion, whose wife Erja had a son Hugo in December, said he had been reassured by rally drivers he had asked about the effects of parenthood.
"Some drivers I have been speaking to who have kids, for example in rallying, have been saying to me that it definitely has made them stronger," said the Finn at the launch of the new McLaren MP4-16 car.
"And then the people who are not in the driving business... very often say it makes you one second slower. Naturally I believe those who are racing.
"Everybody's individual so I don't know how its going to affect me. But so far I feel extremely good.
"Inside I feel very strong, very confident and comfortable and a happy guy. So I don't think that sort of feeling will be negative for my driving."
