The Daily Grapevine has learnt that Tarso Marques could be on his way to the European Minardi team this season, filling the second spot alongside Spaniard Fernando Alonso.
The 25-year old Brazilian, who already raced for the Minardi team back in 1996 and 1997, admitted he has received a phone call from the Faenza-based outfit and he said he could be announced as Alonso's teammate today.
Marques made his Formula One debut at the 1996 Brazilian Grand Prix, he has competed in twelve races and he is yet to score a point. He has driven in the American CART championship for the past two seasons.
Marques joins Italian Gianni Morbidelli as one of the favourites to drive for Minardi in 2001. An announcement is expected very soon.
