Rubens Barrichello criticised Formula One's governing body, the FIA, for granting Finnish youngster Kimi Raikkonen a super-license, allowing him to drive for Sauber in the upcoming season.
Speaking to the internation media in Ferrari's annual skiing camp, Barrichello said: "Raikkonen is a talented driver and fast but I am sure he has not learned everything about driving a racing car in just 23 races. I've been in F1 eight years and I am still learning. Young drivers may lack the skill to deal with certain situations.
"I am sure Raikkonen will make mistakes this year. I made mine in Formula 3 and F3000. Younger men bring enthusiasm but you still have the problem of mistakes."
Barrichello also suggested that in the future, the FIA should consult the active drivers on the matter as well, saying: "They have not yet done so, but I believe the FIA should ask us before handing out a licence. Safety is still very much an issue in F1."
