According to reports in the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Australian multimillionaire Paul Stoddart could be about to buy a majority share of the struggling Minardi team, something that would save the small Italian outfit.
Minardi, who are yet to announce engine, sponsorship and drivers deals less than two months away from the start of the new season, have been looking for a buyer since the deal with South-American cable company PSN fell through.
Stoddart, racing enthusiast and owner of the European Aviation airline as well as the F3000 team which bears the name of the company, competes in the BOSS championship for old Formula One cars himself.
If the reports are confirmed, an announcement should be expected soon as time is running out for Minardi.
