According to the latest rumours from last Sunday's French Grand Prix, Renault Sport managing director Christian Cortzen could replace Italian Flavio Briatore as head of the Benetton team.
French car manufacturer Renault, who bought Benetton last year and put Briatore back at the helm after a period out of the team, will rename the struggling outfit in 2002 to make its official return to Formula One 25 years after their first entry in 1977.
According to speculation, Briatore could be on his way to Asiatech after suggestions that the relationship between him and Cortzen have been deteriorating due to Benetton's poor form so far this year. The Renault-owned team have struggled to move away from the back of the grid and have scored just one point in ten races.
The rumours suggest that Briatore could be set to buy a stake in Asiatech, current engine suppliers of the Arrows team, and reach a deal with Prost to use the Asian units in 2002.
Arrows already announced they will split with Asiatech at the end of the year and Prost are thought to be looking for a cheaper option than their current Ferrari units.
