Japanese driver Takuma Sato is being linked to a Jordan drive next season following the departure of German driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen from the Silverstone-based team.
Frentzen was surprisingly sacked on Wednesday from Jordan, despite having extended his contract until the end of 2002 and he will be replaced by Ricardo Zonta in Germany.
Sato, current test driver for the British American Racing team, already tested for Jordan at the end of 2000 before signing as tester for the Brackley-based outfit.
The 24-year old, leader of the British Formula Three championship, has done a good job testing for BAR and, being a Honda protege - who supplies engine to Jordan - he could be one of the favourites to fill Frentzen's seat next season.
