Zonta Could Race at the European GP

Thursday June 14th, 2001

Brazilian Ricardo Zonta could race at the upcoming European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring circuit replacing again Jordan driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

Test driver Zonta stood in for Frentzen at the Canadian Grand Prix last weekend, after the German admitted he was feeling unwell following a 14-G accident at the Monaco Grand Prix. Frentzen suffered another accident in Friday practice in Canada, and he complained he was feeling dizzy and suffering headaches.

According to the Brazilian press, Zonta has already been entered for the next Grand Prix in Germany in case Frentzen, who is to undergo a medical check-up next Tuesday, is not fit for the race.

Zonta, returning to Grand Prix racing after more than six months, finished in seventh place at the Canadian Grand Prix.
