The Arrows team could be on the verge of dropping their Asiatech engines at the end of the season after paddock rumours suggest the Leafield-based outfit is about to sign a deal with Cosworth to use this year's engines in 2002.
Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw spoke earlier this month about his Formula One team's engine plans for next season and their current deal with suppliers Asiatech. He said Asiatech have a two-year deal with Arrows but that it can be terminated by either party at the end of this season.
"We have to make a decision on engines for next year definitely within the next month to five weeks at the latest," Walkinshaw said.
The Scot is thought to be unhappy with the progress the Peugeot-based Asiatechs are making this season and Cosworth, who supplies engines to Jaguar, could be willing to provide two teams next year.
Arrows have scored only one point so far this season thanks to Dutchman Jos Verstappen, who today announced he will continue with the British team until 2002.
