Ferrari Improve Fiorano Test Track

Tuesday March 20th, 2001

Ferrari's Formula One development is continuing at rapid pace as they seek to increase their already dominant position in Grand Prix racing.

It is not only their cars that are being constantly improved, as the Italian team have already begun building work on their Fiorano test track as they work to turn it into a modern high-tech facility.

The team is creating a round-circuit sprinkler system that will enable them to improve the wet-weather track simulations currently set up by spraying water from trucks.

The team is also concentrating on improving safety at the circuit by developing larger run-off areas, and they are also installing new pit garages and a mechanics' gym.

The new full-circuit water spray system will be fully installed by the start of April, after which the team will be able to test in full wet-weather conditions.

That will to ensure they are able to put in more impressive performances like their dominant one-two finish in Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix.
