Schuey Unsure About Charity Football Match

Wednesday March 21st, 2001

Plans for Michael Schumacher to play in a football match against a Brazilian all-star team may be cancelled because the top players will not turn up.

The Ferrari driver was hoping to appear alongside his teammate Rubens Barrichello in the charity match against Brazil's greatest ever footballers next Wednesday.

But a spokesperson for the driver said that the star may not now play following the withdrawal of Brazilian football stars such as Pele and Romario, who had originally been lined up to take part.

"They all cannot come," said the spokesperson, who is continuing to discuss plans for the match which had been slotted into Schumacher's diary before the news of the team changes.

"That was the plan, but the plans changed when I spoke to the people in Brazil," added the spokesperson. A decision will be made on Thursday on Schumacher's appearance.
