The British American Racing team could switch from Bridgestone to Michelin tyres at the end of the 2001 season, according to reports.
This possibility was revealed by sources close to the French tyre manufacturer, and then confirmed by BAR's managing director Craig Pollock, who at the same time dismissed the rumours about switching to the same rubber during this season.
"We are discussing a possible deal for 2002," Pollock was quoted as saying. "But we like to fulfill our commitments."
Michelin boss Pierre Dupasquier also confirmed the rumours, and the Frenchman also talked about the possibility of also supplying tyres to Jordan, the second Honda-powered team along with BAR.
"Honda has been our friend for more than 30 years and we are interested in working with their partners," Dupasquier said. "Or at least with one of them."
Michelin currently supplies Williams, Benetton, Jaguar, Prost and Minardi.
