Murray Walker to Miss Brazilian Grand Prix

Wednesday March 28th, 2001

For the second time in his long and illustrious career, Formula One legendary commentator Murray Walker will miss a Grand Prix, after the 77-year old Briton announced he won't travel to this year's Brazilian Grand Prix.

ITV's commentator Walker, who last year announced his retirement at the end of the 2001 season after more than five decades covering motorsports, said he would only travel to twelve Grand Prix this season before calling it a day at the end of the year.

Walker already missed last year's French Grand Prix due to injury, and he was replaced by pitlane reporter James Allen, who will also be in charge at the Brazilian Grand Prix next Sunday. Allen will be joined as usual by former Grand Prix driver Martin Brundle.

Walker is expected to be back for the San Marino Grand Prix on April 15.
