Eddie Jordan celebrated his 53rd birthday on Friday doing the samba with a pair of sensuous dancers in the pitlane, in between practice sessions for Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.
Then, in a playful press conference, the Jordan team boss poured cold water over Benetton team director Flavio Briatore before the Italian got his own back.
The Irishman's antics were his way of reminding the Formula One world that it has become too formal, especially in a country like Brazil, where people like football greats Pele and Ronaldo used to go to the paddock to have some fun.
"The image of Formula One was probably the biggest thing in Brazil and we have to be careful that we are in a marketplace that needs support," Jordan told reporters.
"Football and other sports are making a better effort than what we may be doing at the moment. We tend to get cocooned in our own garage."
Jordan remembered the days when teams would arrive early in Brazil for the race to soak up the light- hearted ambience and the flavour of carnival, but said the atmosphere is not what it was.
"It is not just Brazil's fault, this is every race. People go as late as they can and leave as early as they can. We need to do something quickly before we fall into a trap."
