After enduring their best Formula One season in 21 years, finally clinching the world drivers' title along with the constructors crown, Ferrari S.p.A. also enjoyed an excellent year from a financial point of view.
Owned by giant car manufacturer Fiat, Ferrari's global sales turnover regarding the main economical and financial results totalled €893.3 million ($801 million), which meant an increase of 17.9% over their results from the previous year.
Income before tax amounted to €18.2 million ($16.3 million), a figure over double that of the €7.8 million ($6.9 million) declared in 1999, and the net financial position at the end of the year amounted to €130.9 million compared with €49 million ($43 million).
"2000 was a most satisfactory year, both in terms of our racing successes and the commercial and financial results attained," said Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo. "The commitment of the whole company is at its highest level with Ferrari and with Maserati."
Also, the historic Italian marquee announced the first months of 2001 have seen them set new commercial records.
