The European Minardi team and Australian driver Mark Webber have dismissed reports in Italy that he has signed a contract with the Formula One outfit for next season.
Webber, who is expected to give up his test-driver role at Renault after they signed Minardi's former driver Fernando Alonso for that position, said a deal has not been done.
"I know nothing about it," said Webber. "I am in Monaco on a fitness training camp."
Webber did, however, admitted to having talks with the struggling Prost team, and said that he is waiting for their finances to be firmed up because that could strengthen the chances of a race seat.
Minardi have admitted they are interested in Webber, but he is one of many drivers they are looking at to team up with Malaysian Alex Yoong next season.
"It is absolutely not true," said Minardi boss Paul Stoddart of the rumours. "He is one of a number of drivers to whom we are talking and there is no likelihood of a driver announcement for some time. There is no need to rush it."
