Tomas Enge could be out of the running for a race drive with the Prost team next season after testing in Formula 3000 at the Estoril circuit.
Czech Republic driver Enge has tested for the Arden Team Russia F3000 team in recent days and it is believed that he could be on the verge of signing a contract with them, giving up on Formula One for the moment.
Enge came in for the injured Luciano Burti at Prost for the final three races of last season. Prost's financial difficulties leave them desperate to find a driver with substantial sponsorship backing and Enge is not believed to have financial support.
The Czech, however, could remain as a test driver for Prost if the Guyancourt based outfit find the necessary funds to compete in the 2002 season after going into receivership last week.
