Jaguar are poised to buy the former DERA wind tunnel from Arrows, according to sources close to both teams.
It is understood that Arrows chief Tom Walkinshaw and Jaguar chief Niki Lauda have brokered a deal for close to 30 million US dollars. The wind-tunnel is believed to be one of the best in Europe because it is made from concrete and can take half-scale models and simulate speeds of more than 240 km/h.
Jaguar have been in dire need of a wind tunnel in the UK, as they are currently using the Swift tunnel in California. This is clearly inconvenient and the time spent commuting to use it has been lost.
Arrows are struggling with cash flow difficulties following the TWR Group's involvement in developing a Formula One circuit to be built south of Moscow and a dispute with Eurobet of non-payment of sponsorship funds. "We exercised our right to terminate the agreement after the first year.
