Arrows test driver Johnny Herbert will take part in the final race of the Indy Racing League series with the Heritage Motorsports team at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Herbert already drove for the team in Kentucky back in August, impressing in the test, setting a time good enough for pole position in this year's race. The Briton, who will make his racing debut in Texas on September at the Chevy 500, will test at Texas oval track on Thursday.
The 37-year old former Grand Prix winner admitted that his main goal is to gain experience before he can compete in next year's Indianapolis 500.
"I've only accumulated about a day's worth of experience on the oval tracks, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities," said Herbert, who also tested for the Sigma CART team at Rockingham.
"My goal is to get as much experience with a team before going to the Indianapolis 500."
