Eddie Jordan has rubbished suggestions that he will sign Japanese sensation Takuma Sato for the 2002 season, because he can only have him for one year.
Jordan revealed that British American Racing boss Craig Pollock, who has a contract with Sato, is only willing to allow the British Formula Three Champion to join Jordan on a one-year loan.
And Jordan, whose Silverstone-based team have only Giancarlo Fisichella confirmed for next year, said that a one-year deal does not suit his plans for the future.
"Sato has a contract with BAR I understand," Jordan said. "It wouldn't work for us for the same reason as it was unpalatable for us to continue with Jarno when he had a contract with Renault.
"If you are talking about my team then I have to look at all aspects and whether to have an experienced driver to score points right now or a younger one which can give results later on and that is the key decision."
