Following McLaren's announcement that Finn Kimi Raikkonen will replace compatriot Mika Hakkinen at the Woking-based team in 2002, rumours are surfacing about the possible replacement of the young driver at the Sauber team next season.
According to reports in the Brazilian press, 20-year old Felipe Massa could be set to take Raikkonen's seat at the Swiss team in 2002. Massa has been impressive since he left Brazil and moved to Europe to compete in the European and Italian Formula Renault championships in 2000, when he clinched both titles.
The young Brazilian, currently leading the European F3000 championship, was linked to a test drive with the Ferrari team earlier this season.
According to the Agencia Estado news agency, Massa will test for Sauber at the Mugello circuit next week.
