Ferrari Deny New Transmission Talk

Friday September 14th, 2001

Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn has denied talk that the double World Champions are developing a revolutionary new transmission for 2002.

Brawn was questioned in an official press conference about rumours about work on the radical new system, but he claimed that he is not aware of anything on that front. He did admit that the team are continually looking at ways to improve, which includes transmission and clutches, but said that no major developments are in the pipeline.

"I'd like you to tell me about it, because I don't know anything about it," Brawn said when questioned about the new developments for next year. "I'm not sure where it came from.

"We're looking at developments from the transmission as are all teams, looking at clutches, looking at trying to make the transmission more efficient, but there's nothing radical happening.

"I think maybe somebody picked up on some work we were doing and two and two made five. No, unfortunately, nothing radical so that's a bit of a mystery."
