Burti Set to Miss United States GP

Tuesday September 18th, 2001

Brazilian Luciano Burti is set to remain on the sidelines for the United States Grand Prix after Czech driver Tomas Enge was included in the official entry list for the Indianapolis race.

Burti, who was injured in a 170 mph crash during the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa earlier this month, is recovering at home as Enge once again lines up to take his place at Prost on September 30. Prost sent a message to Burti via a team pit-board saying "Luciano, come back soon' at Monza last weekend and the former Jaguar driver thanked Enge for replacing him at the Italian Grand Prix.

"Tomas is a very nice person and he deserved the chance that the team is offering to him," Burti said. "I thank his support and I hope to be back as soon as possible."

Reigning World Champion Michael Schumacher was also included on the entry list, ending any doubts that the German would miss the event after the recent atrocities in the United States.
