Brazilian driver Rubens Barrichello and his wife Silvana celebrated on Sunday the birth of their first child, Eduardo.
"My wife Silvana is well and the baby is also in excellent shape," Barrichello said. "They are still both in hospital for all the usual checks and everything is fine.
"Now I know everything is alright, I feel even more calm about heading off to Indianapolis for the Grand Prix."
The Ferrari driver's baby arrived after a normal delivery in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in the early hours of Sunday morning at 3am local time.
The Brazilian is chasing second place in a Championship already won by teammate Michael Schumacher as Formula One moves to the United States for the penultimate round of the 17-race season.
He was second in the last race at Monza and anchored Schumacher to a one-two finish at Indianapolis on Formula One's return to America last season after a nine year break.
