After reports and denials that Ferrari are interested in Juan Pablo Montoya and Felipe Massa, it is now Briton Jenson Button's turn to be linked with a move to Ferrari for 2003, to replace Rubens Barrichello as World Champion Michael Schumacher's teammate.
The 22-year-old has been impressive with Renault this season and, according to the Sunday Mirror, he has caught the attentions of Ferrari after scoring points in three of the four races.
Williams have an option on Button for next season, but are expected to stick with their current line-up of Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya.
Renault are keen to hang onto the youngster when his two-year loan expires at the end of the year, while Jaguar have expressed an interest in signing Button as a replacement for Eddie Irvine next season.
But according to the British tabloid, Ferrari are ready to go the extra mile to sign Button as a long-term replacement for German Schumacher, with Barrichello out-of-contract at the end of the season.
