Former World Champion Damon Hill admits he is nervous about returning to the seat of a Formula One car, when he will make an appearance at Donington Park this month, for the first time since his retirement from the sport.
Hill will take to the wheel of one of the Minardi team's two-seater machines at the Midlands circuit as part of the 'Thunder in the Park' charity event, but he believes it will not entice him into a more permanent return to motor racing.
"I am very nervous," said Hill, who is now a pundit on Sky's F1 Digital channel. "I thought I'd seen the last of a Formula One car and there is every chance this is going to be a one-off!"
Hill retired at the end of 1999 after two years at Jordan and has rarely returned to the track for any event since he made a complete break from the sport.
Rides with the 1996 world champion will be auctioned off before the event and he is hoping his name will entice the public to dip into their pockets when bidding.
"I want to try and raise a £5,000 for each ride," Hill said. "There is no minimum bid so I am urging people to bid as much as they can afford. I think Paul has done an absolutely brilliant job in getting the team involved."
