Sir Jack Brabham will return to the track this weekend when he takes part in the revival of the classic Gold Cup meetings popularised by his generation of Grand Prix drivers.
The event, which takes place at Oulton Park in the UK, will see 76-year old Brabham driving one of his own cars in a demonstration run around the Cheshire circuit on Monday, a British bank holiday.
It is more than 30 years since the Australian retired from the sport but two of his three sons, Gary and David, have since had brief stints in Formula One and the three-time World Champion has remained an interested supporter.
"I'm really delighted to be able to drive one of my old Formula One cars round Oulton Park again," Brabham said. "This circuit brings back some wonderful memories for me. I'm looking forward to it very much."
Brabham is still the only driver to win the world title for his own team and he will drive his 3-litre Cosworth DFV-powered Brabham BT26 with its designer, Ron Tauranac, watching on.
