Former British American Racing technical director Malcolm Oastler has agreed to join British Formula One team Jaguar as part of the design team, according to Autosport magazine.
Oastler left BAR earlier this season and is expected to sign a contract with the Milton Keynes-based team as director of engineering later this week.
Australian-born Oastler will join a team that includes chief aerodynamicist Ben Agathangelou and new head of vehicle dynamics Rob Taylor while former rally specialist Gunther Steiner remains as acting technical director.
Meanwhile, F1 designer John Barnard is rumoured to be in contact with Jaguar about a management position with his role likely to involve increasing the efficiency of the design team.
Work has already begun on next year's car - the Jaguar R4 - and an insider indicated that they will have to start improving now if they want to attract a technical director with a bigger reputation.
