No Minardi Deal for Verstappen Yet

Monday December 16th, 2002

No Minardi Deal for Verstappen YetHuub Rothengatter, the manager of Minardi target Jos Verstappen, has confirmed the Dutch driver will not be named as the Anglo-Italian team's first driver signing for 2003 at the Heathrow Hilton on Tuesday.

Minardi have revealed they will make an "important announcement" on Tuesday and have a long list of potential drivers on their list as they seek funding to complete their budget for next year.

Verstappen is thought to be one of the favourites for the drive, but Rothengatter admitted: "Tomorrow it will not be Jos. We are very busy but things have not quite been sorted out yet."

Briton Justin Wilson is favourite for the drive but both he and his manager Jonathan Palmer were unavailable for comment today.
