Button Expected to Split with Manager

Monday January 7th, 2002

Button Expected to Split with ManagerBriton Jenson Button is set to split with manager David Robertson, the man who put him on the road to stardom in Formula One.

Robertson and former driver Harald Huysman masterminded Button's rapid rise to Formula One and secured the unknown teenager a seat with Williams in 2000 as well as a long-term contract with the Grove-based team. Button impressed in his first season in the sport, but was shipped out on a two-year loan to Benetton-Renault to make way for Juan Pablo Montoya.

The 21-year-old endured a disastrous first year with Benetton-Renault in 2001 and has reportedly decided that a change in management will ensure his career does not turn stale. His father John is expected to become his manager.
