Schumacher and Beckham Could Trade Places

Wednesday January 9th, 2002

Schumacher and Beckham Could Trade PlacesWorld Champion Michael Schumacher and footballer David Beckham could be set to trade places for a day, according to reports in the British press.

In a marketing move from Vodafone, who sponsors both Schumacher's Ferrari team and Beckham's Manchester United, the German could train with the Old Trafford club while the Briton gets behind the wheel of a Formula One car at the Fiorano circuit.

"David and Michael are two of the world's best known sports stars, and it would be fantastic to give them a taste of each others careers," a Vodafone spokesperson was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror newspaper. "We are always looking to maximise marketing opportunities in an interesting way."

Beckham already visited Ferrari during a testing session at Jerez last year, while Schumacher has always been a keen football fan and player.
