Button Donates £5,000 for Charity

Monday January 28th, 2002

Button Donates £5,000 for Charity Jenson Button has made £5,000 for the National Blind Children's Society (NBCS) by putting one of his race helmets up for auction.

Briton Button, 22, who is vice-president of the NBCS, released the helmet from his private collection for an auction on the Grand Prix Legends website.

"I usually keep all of my past racing items in a private collection," said Renault driver Button. "It is extremely rare for me to allow items from this to be purchased in the public domain.

"By releasing the helmet and donating the proceeds to the NBCS I hope that I can help children in the UK affected by low vision and blindness."
