Montoya: No Williams Deal Yet

Thursday July 18th, 2002

Montoya: No Williams Deal YetColombian Juan Pablo Montoya has said that he has not signed a new deal with Williams-BMW but insisted that it is his intention to remain with the team next year.

According to British newspaper reports last week, Montoya had signed a new two-year deal with the Grove-based team worth an estimated £4.5 million per season. But despite admitting he wants to stay with the Williams team, Montoya said that a new deal has not been agreed yet.

"I can confirm that I have not signed anything yet," Montoya told Autosport magazine. "At this moment my mind is on this year and being with Williams-BMW."

Montoya and German Ralf Schumacher are expected to remain in an unchanged line-up meaning Briton Jenson Button, who is on a two-year loan deal to Renault, will not return to Williams.
