Frenchman Olivier Panis is being linked with a drive for Jordan in 2003 if, as expected, he is replaced at British American Racing by Jenson Button.
BAR will hold a press conference in London on Monday to unveil their driver line-up for 2003 with Button expected to be named as teammate to Canadian Jacques Villeneuve.
And French newspapers linked Panis with a seat at Jordan next season to partner Giancarlo Fisichella in place of Japanese driver Takuma Sato. The reports claimed that the move is part of a plan by Eddie Jordan to end his contract with engine suppliers Honda, despite one-year remaining on the deal, and switch to Cosworth power units next year.
Jordan denied he would renege on the final year of his team's contract with Honda following paddock speculation that he had signed a deal for 2003 with Cosworth before switching to Toyota engines the following year.
