Schumacher Gets Sentimental Present

Monday July 29th, 2002

Schumacher Gets Sentimental PresentWorld Champion Michael Schumacher received a special present after winning Sunday's German Grand Prix: the Formula Three car with which he competed back in 1989.

German television RTL presented the Ferrari driver with the gift - a Volkswagen Reynard - after the five-time champion scored his ninth win in twelve races this season. The car, which will be on display in 'World of the Schumachers' in Kerpen, was briefly tested by Schumacher around the German paddock.

"I can still remember that period very well; that was when I first really entered Formula racing", Schumacher said on his website. "It was a great time; I still used to lend a hand with the spanner then.

"I still remember that it took me six months to be able to start this car up properly."
