Australian Mark Webber is set to sign for Jaguar Racing next season after a source close to the Minardi driver admitted the move is virtually secured.
25-year old Webber jetted off for a week of sponsorship appearances in his homeland after Sunday's German Grand Prix - and according to the source is happy that he has secured the seat for 2003.
"Mark feels very relaxed and it looks like the deal is all but tied up for next year," said the source close to Webber. "He is very confident of joining the team."
The August game of driver musical chairs was kicked into action when Briton Jenson Button announced he will leave Renault for British American Racing next year with Webber likely to be confirmed at Jaguar before the Hungarian Grand Prix.
If he does land the drive, Eddie Irvine will become the centre of attention. The outspoken Ulsterman, the oldest driver of the field at 36, is currently rumoured to be ready to return to Jordan next year.
