They could be friends even when they are competing on track, but next Sunday Ferrari teammates Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello will be embroiled in a battle of patriotism as they watch their national football teams playing against each other for the World Cup trophy.
Barrichello and Schumacher revealed they will not be able to watch the game together, but the Brazilian driver said he is ready to use the phone to celebrate what he anticipates will be a victory for his side.
"It would have been fun to watch the match with Michael," said Barrichello. "Anyway, I'm sure we will talk on the phone to give the game something extra. This will be the first time that Michael and I will be supporting opposing sides. It will be great fun and Brazil will win."
"It's going to be a nail-biting game to watch," added Schumacher. "I congratulate Brazil for having got this far but, excuse me Rubens, obviously I hope Germany wins."
Brazil, a four-time champion, will play against Germany for the first time in the history of the World Cup despite having played in 11 finals between the two teams.
