Czech car manufacturer Skoda on Sunday denied all involvement with the recently revealed plans for a new Formula One team.
Reports in a British broadsheet on Sunday suggested that Skoda, through parent company Volkswagen, is the party connected with Charles Nickerson's 'Phoenix' consortium.
But Skoda's corporate communications boss Roman Mellska insisted: "Skoda is definitely not involved."
He could not comment on possible links between Volkswagen and the new Grand Prix team.
But sources suggest the German car manufacturer will not participate in Formula One because of the high cost.
Mellska added: "The only target for Skoda at the moment is the World Rally Championship.
"We are pleased as a brand to be seen as big enough to be interested in Formula One.
"But nothing has been spoken about and we are not connected. Never. You won't find anyone in Skoda talking about Formula One."
The supposed link appears to have been made because Czech Tomas Enge is tipped to drive for the new team, and he has been supported by Skoda over the past year.
But Mellska insisted that the tenuous links have been misinterpreted and the identity of the new team, which is expected to arrive on the Grand Prix grid at the Brazilian Grand Prix in one month's time, still remains a mystery.
