According to the latest reports from the Argentinian press, the new 'Phoenix' team will make their Formula One debut at this month's Brazilian Grand Prix.
Argentine driver Gaston Mazzacane, who has claimed he has a contract with the 12th Formula One squad, reportedly met with the owners of the team on Monday in London and then travelled to the Arrows team factory to have a seat fitting for the car he will supposedly drive in Brazil.
Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw announced at the Australian Grand Prix that his TWR company will provide engineering support to Charles Nickerson's team.
According to the reports, the new team are already present in Kuala Lumpuer for this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang with two AP04 chassis from the Prost Grand Prix squad, but they will only race in the third event of the 2002 season in Brazil on March 31.
The team will reportedly be unveiled in Malaysia this weekend and the only reason they travelled to the Asian country is to avoid an $800,000 fine that would be imposed had they not been there.
At the Brazilian Grand Prix, the new Phoenix team will use the old AP04 chassis, Bridgestone tyres, and Cosworth engines, according to the reports. Mazzacane's teammate is expected to be Czech Tomas Enge.
