Zanardi Returns to Lausitzring as a 'Starter'

Zanardi Returns to Lausitzring as a 'Starter' Alex Zanardi, who had both legs amputated after a horrific crash in a CART race at the Lausitzring last September, will return to the German track for this year's edition of the German 500 event.

Lausitzring manager Hans-Joerg Fischer said on Tuesday that the 35-year-old Italian had agreed to signal the start of the race on September 21.

The circuit is contracted to host a round in the U.S. motor racing series - the American equivalent of Formula One - every year until 2005.
