Montoya Awarded Lorenzo Bandini Prize

Wednesday March 27th, 2002

Montoya Awarded Lorenzo Bandini Prize Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya has been awarded the Lorenzo Bandini Prize for this year, joining an impressive list of former winners.

The prize, which recognises the drivers' fighting spirit, is an annual award given by the Italian town of Brisighella, near Imola, which stages the San Marino Grand Prix and BMW-Williams driver Montoya is this year's recipient.

Montoya, who follows in the footsteps of David Coulthard, Jacques Villeneuve and Giancarlo Fisichella, will collect the prize on April 12. The award is named after the late Italian driver, who died in Monte Carlo in May 1967.
